Evidence-based strategy

Our approach

We believe every child deserves support, understanding and the opportunity to thrive.

  1. Evidence-based strategies

We use research-based interventions shown to help children with special needs, with technology to build effective curricula.

  2. Comprehensive assessment

Every child starts with the NIA: we observe behaviour, interaction and communication, and assess cognitive, physical and emotional development.

  3. Individualised intervention

Our consultants build an individual module around the child's needs, strengths and challenges.

  4. Innovating for every child

Engaging learning experiences and our own apps and modules, reviewed as the child progresses.

Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC)

AAC is a set of methods and tools that help children with communication difficulties express themselves and communicate with others, from low-tech picture boards to speech-generating devices and apps.

Our therapists recommend AAC where it helps and train children and their families to use it. NadiAAC, our own AAC app, is included in every Nadi Intelek programme.

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

PBS encourages positive behaviour and reduces difficult behaviour by addressing its underlying causes. Based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis, it uses positive reinforcement rather than punishment to teach new skills.

Its core parts: functional behaviour assessment, person-centred planning, teaching replacement behaviours with positive reinforcement, data-based decision making, and continuous monitoring and review of the plan.

Visual Support

Visual supports use pictures, symbols or written words to help children understand routines, express their needs and take part more independently. They are especially helpful for children with language, attention or sensory processing difficulties.

Examples include picture schedules, social stories, visual timers, choice boards and visual communication boards, planned around each child's needs.

Sensory Integration

Sensory integration helps children process and respond to sensory information, supporting focus, emotional regulation, movement and participation in everyday activities.

Therapists provide structured sensory experiences such as swinging, jumping, bouncing and different textures, with a calm sensory environment and sensory tools that help each child regulate.

Naturalistic Intervention

Naturalistic intervention builds communication, social and everyday skills through meaningful activities, routines and play, so learning carries over into daily life.

It is child-led and individualised: children help choose activities they enjoy, and therapists use those moments to teach skills in a natural setting.
